Hurt

Oh how I hurt! I hurt everywhere!  Who knew dancing for an hour every other day could hurt this much! It's a good hurt though.  I especially feel it in my back.  I've always had issues with my back but I can literally feel my back get stronger.  My knees have also been a problem area.  They never used to be an issue back when I wasn't overweight.  So I tend to think my knee issues have been caused  by how much weight they have to carry.  It's really hard to do certain parts of the workout because of my knees.  Whenever I do lunges you can hear my knees make some kind of clicking noise.  Sounds awful right?  I can only hope that the pain will go away once I get some of the weight off.   My knees are so awful that it's hard to go from a seated position on the floor to standing.  I always need some kind of support to help pull me up because my knees are strong enough to do it.  I don't know how much I weight but that right there should give you enough idea on how unhealthy I am.  I haven't really noticed any change in strength or anything in regards to my knees but it's only been 11 days.  I'm keeping a close eye on my knees....  The last thing you want when you're going strong is an injury!

I have noticed a small change in me physically because of the working out!  My left thigh is no longer numb!  After I had my last child (over a year ago!), my left leg above the knee has been numb.  It is a strange feeling let me tell you!  I went and saw a specialist about it because I have never experienced this before.  He suggested that it might have been caused by a nerve that might have gotten pinched during my c-section surgery.  He suggested I had two options.  Either lose weight, or get expensive therapy and/or surgery.  Gee....decisions, decisions....  Well I didn't do either for over a year and my leg has been numb this long.  I was getting nervous to be honest.  It can't be good to have a body part numb for this long... Fortunately, the specialist said it wasn't serious but if it continues I might have to have surgery (not because I was in any danger but because I was in discomfort)...  I really didn't want to get surgery for something that wasn't that serious so I pretty much ignored the numbness.  It's good to know that a little working out has practically eliminated the numbness. I should have listened to his advice a long time ago.  Coulda, shoulda, woulda... Either way the numbness is gone!!! It's a small victory but a victory nonetheless!

I love to quote the U.S. Marine Corps' Motto "Pain is Weakness Leaving the Body".  You gotta fight through the pain to become a stronger person.  That is exactly what I plan to do!  The benefits are endless.  The pain is temporary.

  1. I have a suggestion for any achiness...whey protein. Just a small amount right after you workout seems to keep the "next day" aches at bay. Keep up the good work! :)
